Doing counseling or coaching online is super convenient. Granted there might be a slight learning curve, but once you get your first session under your belt, it is smooth sailing. You can meet anywhere at basically any time. No traffic, no rearranging appointments, simply sign on your phone, tablet, or laptop and rock N roll! This works really well for the coaching and counseling clients I work with because in most cases the level of distress is not severe enough to warrant in person work.
What’s the difference between counseling and coaching?
Though my roles as psychologist and coach are intertwined at times, counseling services help individuals manage or treat the struggles of life, whereas coaching involves helping people perform the performances they want to perform. In any performance endeavor, there is a huge mental component that influences the likelihood of success. Whether an athlete, a performing artist, or an executive, coaching services help develop and leverage the mental aspect of performance.
Who do you typically see?
As a sport and performance psychologist I see funky adolescents, burnt out adults, struggling athletes, and a wide variety of everyday people that are looking to close the gap between what they’re getting and what they want! Who they are and who they want to be!
Where is your office?
This is the best part! I don’t have one! Which means you can have a session on your recliner, in your hammock, or by the pool! As long as you are in a safe location, with good internet connection, you can work on becoming the best version of yourself! You can literally be at your happy place!
How much does it cost?
Individual Online Counseling and Coaching sessions start at $150 per 50-min session, however adjustments are made for sessions that last less than 50-mins. Speaking costs start at $500 an hour plus travel expenses. Contact Dr. Steve for more information on pricing and session packages.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance. My goal is to spend more time on client-care and less on worrying about the money aspects of practice. As such, it’s much easier to do fee-for-service. However, some insurance companies might offer out-of-network reimbursement for online counseling. If your insurance company does, let me know and I’ll be happy to provide a receipt for you that gives your carrier everything they need to know regarding our session.
What can I expect in the beginning?
So you’re interested?? AWESOME! First step is to contact me. We can have a brief chat about your needs and whether you are appropriate for online counseling. If appropriate, I will provide information on signing on to the online system and walk you through the paperwork. You will be 100% ready to go for your first session. After that, it’s easy! Just schedule when you want!
Is this confidential?
Absolutely! I use a HIPPA compliant online system called WeCounsel. There are some legal limits to confidentiality, but as long as I don’t fear for your or someone else’s safety, what we talk about in session, stays in session. Of course, if you want me to share any information with anyone, there is a form we can fill out to do that.
